Choosing a name for your book

Sometimes books come into our head ready-plotted, with a neat character arc, a brilliant narrative thread and the perfect title.

Just kidding. That probably never happened, ever.

However, many of us start with something resembling a title in our heads (I mean, we need to be able to name the document something, right?). As a writing friend said to me just today, “I need a working title to get started. It can change as the story develops but I can’t do anything without a starting point.”

But will that name stick? And what will our publisher think of it?

Today, I’m going to tell you some stories about choosing the title of your book and what can happen next.
